Our Story

YIKES! was dreamed up in a college dorm room circa 2018 by two two-of-a-kind roommates-turned-besties who bonded over our love of movies, discussions about the state of the world, eye masks, f***ed-up sleep schedules, sharing the same shoe size despite not being the same height at all, and, most importantly, baby tees. Baby tees are the one type of clothing we have always adored, but we found that the shirts we loved were often black or white. There are few (if any) ethically made COLORFUL tees with timeless designs and lasting quality.

YIKES! was born amidst deep conversations about world domination and in search of a tee we craved—the one you pack whether you’re leaving home for one night or moving to a new city. Our baby tees are suitable for dinner, drinks, class, existential walks on the beach, reading, sleeping, and any other silly activities you may find yourself in. Our designs are a reminder that when all is wrong, you can just… say “YIKES!”

The goal of our baby tees is to make anyone who wears them feel cool & fun & confident & comfortable, wherever they are and whatever they’re doing. This is the most important. As we expand to include different products and retail experiences, the brand’s original authenticity, commitment to sustainability, and happy vibes will remain central to YIKES! We hope you’ll join us for the ride.

XOXO

Where are YIKES designs made?

Our small batch designs are ethically made in Riga, Latvia by seamstresses with decades of experience.

How do I take care of my baby tee?

Please turn inside out and wash cold with like colors:)
Do not bleach or tumble dry.

What is the fabric composition of YIKES baby tees?

Our cotton jersey tees are 95% cotton and 5% elastane. Our French Terry tees are 92% cotton and 8% elastane. All of our fabric has an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification. GOTS ensures that our fabric is organic and monitors every step of the supply chain to ensure that there are fair employment standards for all who have worked to create this fabric.
All material is sourced in the European Union.

What are your sustainability practices?

We work to ensure that every step of our business is both ethical and not environmentally destructive. We do not drop-ship or use sweatshops with questionable labor practices, and instead employ artisan seamstresses who we enjoy close personal relationships with.
We save leftover fabric scraps, which we use as "ribbons" to hang labels (instead of standard plastic), and eventually plan on using to make and stuff colorful teddy bears and floor poufs to donate to Latvian orphanages.
As long-time collectors of vintage, about half of YIKES is based on selling clothing that has already lived a past life.
Additionally, all of our mailers are 100% recyclable (but please remember to rip off any adhesive)
We are always looking for ways to improve our sustainability practices, so if you have any suggestions, please let us know:)
